Why oral semaglutide's numbers look so much smaller

The absorption problem
Peptide drugs like semaglutide are broken down by stomach acid, so the oral (tablet) version needs a special absorption-enhancing formulation and still only gets a small fraction of the dose into the bloodstream compared with an injection. If a daily tablet matters more to you than maximum weight loss, Rybelsus is a real, licensed, available option today for people with type 2 diabetes. If weight loss is the priority, an injectable option (Wegovy, or eventually retatrutide) will outperform any oral GLP-1 currently available, including Rybelsus.
