These are the nearest registered primary-completion dates. They show when a study expects to finish collecting its main outcome data, not when a result will be published or a medicine will become available.

August 2026 NCT06260722, a phase 3 study in type 2 diabetes comparing retatrutide with semaglutide, lists August as its primary-completion month.

October 2026 NCT06297603, a placebo-controlled phase 3 study in type 2 diabetes, lists October for primary completion.

November 2026 TRIUMPH-5, the head-to-head study against tirzepatide, lists November for primary completion.

Not licensed in the UK — or anywhere else Every study below is exactly that: a study. Retatrutide holds no marketing authorisation from the MHRA, the EMA or the FDA, so it cannot legally be prescribed, sold or supplied for human use in the UK. Any website offering to sell it — including anything labelled “research use only” — is operating outside UK law. MHRA’s own position is that products sold in the UK claiming to contain retatrutide are “likely to be illegal and are potentially dangerous to people’s health.” Joining a registered trial is the only route to supervised retatrutide in the UK today.

A further 14 phase 1 studies (safety, drug interactions, kidney and liver function, and studies in Japanese and Chinese participants) are also registered. Thirteen are complete and one is active but not recruiting, according to ClinicalTrials.gov checked on 8 August 2026. “Primary completion” is the date a trial expects to finish collecting its main outcome data — not the date results are published, which typically follows months later.

What has actually reported, and what has not

Reaching primary completion is not the same as publishing results. No phase 3 retatrutide trial has results posted to the registry yet.

Four trials have finished collecting data

TRIUMPH-4 reached primary completion in November 2025, TRIUMPH-1 and TRIUMPH-3 in April 2026, and TRIUMPH-2 in June 2026. These are the studies behind the weight-loss and secondary-benefit figures quoted on our UK status page and the comparison pages — those figures come from company announcements and conference presentations, not from the registry, which still shows no posted results.

The two worth watching next

TRIUMPH-5 is the head-to-head against tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, with primary completion due around November 2026. It is the only registered study that answers “is retatrutide better than Mounjaro?” with a controlled comparison rather than a cross-trial estimate — until it reports, every such comparison, including ours, is an indirect one. TRIUMPH-Outcomes is far the largest at 10,000 participants, but its primary completion is not due until February 2029; outcome trials of that kind usually shape long-term guidance and NHS funding decisions rather than initial licensing.

Which trials are recruiting in the UK right now

NCT07165028 — MASH master protocol (retatrutide is one treatment arm) A phase 3 master protocol testing several drugs in adults with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH, a form of fatty liver disease). Target enrolment 4,500 across 564 sites worldwide, of which 17 are in the UK and 13 are recruiting now. Expanded access: a narrow, physician-only route

Separate from the trials, Lilly has registered a pre-approval expanded access programme — sometimes called compassionate use.

What NCT07629401 actually is A single-patient expanded access record, first posted 5 June 2026 and last updated 6 August 2026. It covers adults with a BMI of 35 or above who have at least two serious or life-threatening obesity-related complications, who have already failed the highest available dose of approved weight-management treatment, and who cannot join a retatrutide trial. Requests must be initiated by a treating physician — patients and families cannot apply directly. Lilly states availability “will depend on geography, product supply, and detailed individual eligibility assessment,” and the contact listed on the record is a US telephone number. We have found no published confirmation that this programme operates in the UK, and it is not a general access route — it is a last-resort pathway for a very small number of patients. How to read this table

Completed ≠ published

A trial marked completed has finished collecting its primary outcome data. Results usually appear months later in a journal or conference presentation, and none of the phase 3 studies above have results posted to the registry yet.

Active, not recruiting

Enrolment has closed but participants are still being treated and followed up. These trials are running — they just cannot take anyone new.

UK sites ≠ UK access

A UK site count only tells you the trial has British research centres. Unless the status says recruiting, those sites are not enrolling, and joining is always governed by the protocol’s eligibility criteria.
